Thanks, Mom

A picture of Evan looking at the colorful animals that my mom painted for his room. We love them and talk to them daily. My mom is very talented when it comes to painting and drawing. She's working on getting her stationery sold at a local paper store. I'll certainly let you know when it does.

Stubborn Boy

Welp, we have a strong headed McCurry on our hands. He is now refusing to take a bottle from anyone. This was not a problem when I was in DC or last weekend when my mom got him ready for bed or really ever since he was born. But now he decides that he won't do it. Of course just before Kyle & I are scheduled to be gone overnight for my friend's wedding. What is a mother to do?!?! I've read about all the tricks and talked to Mom's about their strategies (e.g., feed him on a full tummy, give him juice in the bottle, warm the nipple, sugar-coat the nipple, try a cup, let him play with the bottle first, etc.), but not much has worked yet on this one. A video is coming soon that shows his strong rejections to the bottle...

5 amazing months

Happy Fall!!!The little guy is 5 months old! I can hardly believe it and have a tough time saying it when people ask me how old he is. I find myself more now than ever trying to be fully aware and in the moment as not to forget a single minute.

Here are some things he is doing now...

Sits unsupported for several minutes.
Eats cereal, squash, & bananas (so far).
Eats every 3 hours during the day.
Sleeps nearly 12 hours at night (with 1 feeding).
Takes 3 naps during the day.
Laughs hard when tickled.
Play group on Tuesdays.
Sits in his high chair.
Rolls over from back to tummy.
Reaches for everything!
Chews on his toes
Sucks his thumb & fingers all the time
(I'll stop there before I get carried away:-)

Catching up

Sorry to all of you that I have not been able to update in a while. At first it was a few computer issues. Now it is trying to catch a moment when the little guy is napping and I don't have other stuff to do! But, I'll have you know that I'd rather be blogging than doing all of the necessary domestic chores.

A lot has happened since mid-September. We've been very busy around this joint. Evan started eating cereal, riding in his big-boy umbrella stroller, we went to visit my grandparents in St. Louis, and I had my first girls weekend away (I'll add pictures from that trip in my next blog). The pics are not in sequential order, but I'll do what I can to explain.

Here's Sam hiding from me while I tried to give him a bath. He figured if he hid behind the baby, I wouldn't possibly spray him with the hose. Guess who won that argument?

Something about the back of a baby's head that I am so in love with.

My favorite picture of Great Grandpa & Evan.

Evan was spoiled rotten by these two! It was a perfect weekend and we got to spend lots of time on Grandpa's swing.

Grandpa & Evan in the Radio Flyer. What a special moment!

Granny got him after his nap. He slept SO good at her house.

My cousin Allen got to meet the little guy.

The first few bites of food.

Hey, I think I kind of like this stuff!

Priceless.

The first ride in the umbrella stroller.

Now, we've converted all of his strollers to front-facing views.
