Snowed in (sorta)

Today it was a "snow" day without the snow. It was SO cold that we just hunkered down and didn't go anywhere. I think a high of 9 degrees was all the warmer it got. Anyway, Evan and I stayed in our pj's and sweats all day and I had to take a few pictures. Ho! Ho! Ho!

see those teeth! finally i captured them in a picture.
now do you understand why i asked for new lamps for the bedroom?!?!

obviously the next few are not from today but i think they are adorable!

December already??

Sadly most of these pictures were taken in November and just getting posted. Hope everyone is doing well and getting ready for the holiday season. The kid is getting SO big. He even takes a bottle now...from momma!

Thanksgiving in Springfield...Great Grandma Fern had a fascinating shirt.

Dalton and Evan...they were total buds!

Great Grandma Pat & Evan. We'll have to plan a longer visit soon to JC. Have a great visit in Florida.

The first time with pots and a wooden spoon - endless entertainment.

Evan is his preppy college boy outfit.

Visiting our friend Finley one afternoon. Evan is fascinated by other kids! We had a great time and we moms are looking forward to our next playdate.

He's gonna kill us one day for this picture. But I had to have a picture of him in his robe before it got too small...looks like I already waited too long.

Random events

Every day I want to blog, but it just doesn't happen. So, here's a backlog of some photos that I've been meaning to share. I wish I had a recent pic of the guy taking a bottle, but that is going to have to wait a little while longer :-)
Here's Evan shopping at Target. We LOVE to shop now that we can sit up front and look (& grab) at everything.

Playing outside with the dog while I attempt to rake up some leaves (and take some photos:). I'm going to miss the warm weather!

Racked out after a trip to the mall. He didn't even wake up when I put him in his crib.

The first photos of the little guy playing in his room.

I think he is so "big"...but in this photo he is such a tiny little baby!

The boys watching college ball...I have many years of this ahead!

Evan loves his "waterfall" soother. We caught him last Saturday watching it after waking up from a nap...somehow he turned it on all by himself. We were so curious when it suddenly got so quiet.

Evan's first political experience. He woke up at 5am on Nov 4 so that daddy & mommy wouldn't miss this historic event. We all got to go vote together and were in line before the polls opened at 6.

Halloween

We had a blast on Halloween. Clearly, Evan was a pumpkin. We have the best neighborhood for this holiday - it is sure to be more fun next year with Eman running around.
Our neighbors, Pirates Reece and River.
Uncle Jeff & pumpkin boy - he thought Jeff was so funny.

Thanks to Maggie for holding Evan in the picture. Poor guy couldn't straighten out his legs in his costume enough to sit on his own (don't worry, he only wore it for a short while). And, how adorable is her costume?

Love this one where the bunny rabbit is escaping.

Not Halloween, but a cute pic of Evan a few weeks ago.

Thanks, Mom

A picture of Evan looking at the colorful animals that my mom painted for his room. We love them and talk to them daily. My mom is very talented when it comes to painting and drawing. She's working on getting her stationery sold at a local paper store. I'll certainly let you know when it does.

Stubborn Boy

Welp, we have a strong headed McCurry on our hands. He is now refusing to take a bottle from anyone. This was not a problem when I was in DC or last weekend when my mom got him ready for bed or really ever since he was born. But now he decides that he won't do it. Of course just before Kyle & I are scheduled to be gone overnight for my friend's wedding. What is a mother to do?!?! I've read about all the tricks and talked to Mom's about their strategies (e.g., feed him on a full tummy, give him juice in the bottle, warm the nipple, sugar-coat the nipple, try a cup, let him play with the bottle first, etc.), but not much has worked yet on this one. A video is coming soon that shows his strong rejections to the bottle...

5 amazing months

Happy Fall!!!The little guy is 5 months old! I can hardly believe it and have a tough time saying it when people ask me how old he is. I find myself more now than ever trying to be fully aware and in the moment as not to forget a single minute.

Here are some things he is doing now...

Sits unsupported for several minutes.
Eats cereal, squash, & bananas (so far).
Eats every 3 hours during the day.
Sleeps nearly 12 hours at night (with 1 feeding).
Takes 3 naps during the day.
Laughs hard when tickled.
Play group on Tuesdays.
Sits in his high chair.
Rolls over from back to tummy.
Reaches for everything!
Chews on his toes
Sucks his thumb & fingers all the time
(I'll stop there before I get carried away:-)

Catching up

Sorry to all of you that I have not been able to update in a while. At first it was a few computer issues. Now it is trying to catch a moment when the little guy is napping and I don't have other stuff to do! But, I'll have you know that I'd rather be blogging than doing all of the necessary domestic chores.

A lot has happened since mid-September. We've been very busy around this joint. Evan started eating cereal, riding in his big-boy umbrella stroller, we went to visit my grandparents in St. Louis, and I had my first girls weekend away (I'll add pictures from that trip in my next blog). The pics are not in sequential order, but I'll do what I can to explain.

Here's Sam hiding from me while I tried to give him a bath. He figured if he hid behind the baby, I wouldn't possibly spray him with the hose. Guess who won that argument?

Something about the back of a baby's head that I am so in love with.

My favorite picture of Great Grandpa & Evan.

Evan was spoiled rotten by these two! It was a perfect weekend and we got to spend lots of time on Grandpa's swing.

Grandpa & Evan in the Radio Flyer. What a special moment!

Granny got him after his nap. He slept SO good at her house.

My cousin Allen got to meet the little guy.

The first few bites of food.

Hey, I think I kind of like this stuff!

Priceless.

The first ride in the umbrella stroller.

Now, we've converted all of his strollers to front-facing views.

Evan's 1st Tailgate & the Big 3-0

29 - 30! - Hut - HutAlex & Evan...already having fun together.
Aunt Kelly & Evan with a mohawk
My childhood friend Lyndsay & her family stopped by the tailgate.

Another childhood friend, Megan, & her Georgia.
Cool Uncle Brent & Evan. They look like trouble.
So, I think they look alike. Especially the profile.
Daddy & his future Tiger
Not often you see just the two of us in a pic together:-)

Thank you, thank you! First off, I want to say thanks to my parents and my wonderful husband for planning a fabulous 30th birthday gathering for me. I loved getting to be with my friends and family and having Evan close by if he needed me! Dinner was great, the wine was even better and conversation was much needed for this stay at home mom. Thank you to my awesome friends who got babysitters and traveled to Columbia on a rainy weekend so that they could share in celebrating with me. I feel so loved and blessed.
