New stuff

So far I haven't been sticking to my new years resolution to continue blogging. But we have a few bits of exciting news...

First of all, I don't think I've advertised on the blog that we are expecting a baby boy this spring! We are very excited and Evan is starting to mention "baby brother" and likes reading books about him becoming a big brother. Here are a few pics of our 3D ultrasound we did last week. He's gonna be pretty cute I think:) My only concern is that my body won't be able to hold out the next 9 weeks or so...2nd pregnancies are not as much fun or comfortable as the first!

Secondly, we have sold our house and bought a new one! (Or my husband would say they are both "under contract"). We are scheduled to move April 1 & 2. We are going to be very sad to leave our awesome neighbors and neighborhood. We certainly realize what we are giving up. But we are excited for a little more space to accommodate our growing family. We may be able to host a Grizwald-style Thanksgiving or Christmas one day soon, too! Keep your fingers crossed for us that we don't have any bumps in the road and that the move goes smoothly!

early new year's resolution...BLOG

It has been too long...about 6 months and I miss it!!! I haven't even read my friends blog's in about 4 months. No excuse except that I have added an iPhone to my toy collection and find it pretty easy to update friends and family that way. Do any of you blog from your iPhones? Is it easy? Anyway, we have an almost 19 month old now and seriously things just keep getting more fun and entertaining every day. Today he was caught pretending to put my deoderant on...has he watched me that many times to know what it is already?!?! He got to play in the snow for about 6 minutes because it was SO cold here. And his favorite command continues to be "Show me." Here are a few pics from Thanksgiving and the last few days...

crashing cars with great grandpa

there's snow on my glove! (has anyone found mittens that stay on little kids hands?)

Summer is here!

Our trip to Playa del Carmen was fabulous. The weather turned out great despite what weather.com had predicted. It was so fun getting to spend time with Jeff & Crissy without having to watch our child. Thanks B & V for a great trip and "free" babysitting!

Playing with new crayons...I can't wait until he can actually do this, probably a
few months away still.

A play date with Sophia at Grandmas, finally! They were born on the same day in 2008.

Fin & Evan playing on the slide.

Evan likes the maracas he got from Mexico.

Evan's first trip to the pool this summer. He LOVED it!

Chowing on blueberries - his FAVORITE!

Joe snapped a few pics of Evan with his new lawnmower (thanks Houstons!).

He's ONE!

Well, we made it through the 1st year! It was the fastest, most incredible year of my life. My baby is ONE year old. I was emotional the weeks leading to and the morning of his party, but after it was all over I felt excited about all the things he'll start doing in his 2nd year of life. He is such an amazing little person! I love you Evan with all my heart - Happy Birthday sweet boy!
Opening his 1st present from us on his actual birthday.

Moose and Zee cake (by Dolce baking co. in the Village - amazing)
Singing "Happy Birthday" and getting ready to dive into his GInormous cupcake.

"So Big"
He liked the cake but enjoyed entertaining all of us (and sharing his cake) more than anything. I think daddy had more fun playing in the cake than he did:-)

YuMM-O!

Playing in his new sandbox with his new Cardinal's hat!

Go cards! (for Uncle Bri)
His new climber/slide...So far his favorite thing is the door - open, close, open, close, open,...:-) We are going to have a lot of fun outside this summer!

Easter

Evan's 1st Easter...I was going for a Master's look here but with the trendy Euro garb the guys wear these days, Evan would have been out of place at Augusta! We enjoyed a yummy lunch here at the house but stayed in cause the little guy had a fever from what appears to be just a cold virus. We'll see. He's been much better today already! Happy Easter to everyone! And somebody send in Spring!!!

It was so quiet I thought he was up to no good, but they were just chilling by the front door.

Crawlin' & Walkin' (and busier than ever)

It is such an exciting time around here! Evan is now crawling (today he made it from the hall to the bedroom with a little encouragement from Daddy, Mommy & Sammy)!!! We've been waiting for this for a while as he's almost 10 months old, but figured he'd do it when he was ready. And we were right. It is so adorable to watch him move around independently. As you can see, he also can walk with his push walker.

He comprehends lots of vocabulary and will look for and locate objects that he knows. I can also reason with him a little and distract him because his comprehension keeps getting better. He also says "ba" for ball and bottle and baby and balloon. He probably thinks that words only start with "ba" since so many early words start with that sound. BUT, he does discriminate and say "pu" for puppy. That's what he gets for having a speech pathologist for a mommy. Life is going to be totally different for us in the next few days as he becomes more comfortable with crawling...I don't think I'm really prepared. Any helpful hints would be appreciated.
His new favorite thing to do is open and close and empty out his dresser drawers.
Looking a little apprehensive here, but just wait...

We taught him how to shake his hands above his head to "celebrate" and since he has had his 1st ear infection this week, he now grabs his ears. Boohoo.
But, that pink stuff really does the trick and he's almost back to his old self.

Love the bed head in this pic!
